Logan Elm used a 21-point outburst in the first quarter on Tuesday to seize the lead for good in a non-league game and defeat visiting Zane Trace 53-47.
The Braves shot a sharp 8 of 12 (75 percent) in the opening quarter, including knocking down five three-pointers. Konnor Starkey nailed a pair of bonus balls to lead the Braves in the quarter with six points, while Tanner Holbert and Braylen Baker added five apiece to send the Braves to a 21-12 lead.
Logan Elm led 31-20 at halftime and 42-35 entering the final period of play.
Holbert led all scorers with 22 points and Baker followed with 17 points on 6 of 10 shooting (60 percent). Starkey and Garret Summers chipped in six points apiece.
Nalin Robinson scored 20 points to lead the Pioneers (5-4).
The Braves (7-2) travel to Waverly’s Downtown Gymnasium on Thursday to take on Bishop Ready in the SOCS Wireless Classic, with tip-off slated for 2 p.m.
