Circleville 43, Logan Elm 33
CIRCLEVILLE — Committing no turnovers in the second half, Circleville turned the tide at Logan Elm Friday night to leave with a 43-33 win.
Five first quarter turnovers by Circleville helped the Braves get out to a 9-4 lead.
While Circleville cut back its turnovers to three in the second period, LE moved its lead to 19-13 by halftime.
Coming out of the break, Circleville scored the first five points to draw within one. After an LE score, CHS got the next six points to get its first lead since the score was 4-2. The Tigers ended the period up 28-25.

The Tigers extended their lead to 36-29 with 3:31 left in the contest when Logan Elm began fouling to put CHS at the line in hopes of getting the ball back.
The plan almost worked as the Tigers struggled to connect – hitting only two of their first eight attempts. But LE was only able to draw two points closer in that stretch before Circleville hit five of its last six to close out the win.
“After seeing some film and stuff, we wanted to, if we got down like that and it was a tight game, we wanted to foul early, and put a little pressure on, especially in this environment,” LE coach Nate Dropsey said. “We got them to miss a couple here, but, you know, they made them at the end.”
Kole Nungester had 13 of his game-high 16 in the second half for Circleville and Riley Jenkins had eight of his 13 in the last two periods.
“You’ve got very nice players like Kole and Riley, and we knew they were going to get it to them,” Dropsey said. “And those kids made plays. I thought we fought hard to try to keep them off there, but they made a couple tough shots there early in third, got some momentum going.”
Brady Neff led LE with 12 points and Ethon Manson put in 11.
Logan Elm fnished with a slim 32-30 rebounding edge. Manson had six and Neff had five. Jenkins led Circleville with nine and Nungester had eight.
Dropsey hopes the high-energy atmosphere of a rivalry game like Friday’s will help his team as the season progresses.
“We have to take and learn from these moments, and as the season goes on, when we’re in situations like this again, maybe we’re a little bit better at converting,” he said. “Maybe we keep our composure a little bit better and not try to force quite as much.”
Circleville improves to 2-0 and has a trip to Washington Court House planned for Monday. Logan Elm drops to 1-2 and will host Fairfield Union Wednesday.
