Prior to Saturday afternoon’s boys basketball game, Logan Elm welcomed four new members into its athletics hall of fame. Inducted were Avery Clouse, Brooke (Gardner) Hines, Haden Karshner and Dominic Vagnier.
Avery Clouse – Class of 2020
Avery Clouse was an accomplished Logan Elm athlete earning eight varsity letters in golf and tennis. Clouse is known as the most accomplished boys tennis player in Logan Elm history and one of the top players to ever play in the Mid-State League.

Clouse played first singles on a very successful boys tennis team at Logan Elm during his entire career. During that time, Clouse led the team to an overall record of 40-6 and had an individual record of 62-11. Clouse won three straight Mid-State League Tennis Player of the Year awards his freshman, sophomore and junior seasons. Unfortunately, his high school tennis career was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic that caused 2020 spring sports to be canceled his senior year. In 2020, Clouse was awarded the Mike Spangler Award which signifies Logan Elm’s outstanding male student athlete.
After graduating from Logan Elm, Clouse continued playing tennis while attending the University of Mount Union. He received Second Team All-Ohio Athletic Conference as a freshman playing third singles. The following fall season, he moved up to play first singles but suffered a college career-ending injury. Currently, Avery is the assistant greens superintendent at Pickaway Golf Course and is completing his degree in middle childhood education with a focus on social studies and science. In addition, over the last three years, Clouse has been the JV and varsity boys golf coach at Logan Elm and also assists with the Logan Elm boys varsity tennis team with his dad, Tony.
Brooke (Gardner) Hines – Class of 2012
Brooke (Gardner) Hines was one of Logan Elm’s outstanding athletes earning 12 varsity letters in softball, track, cross country and basketball. Hines was most recognized in cross country and track and field.

Following high school, Hines continued her academic and athletic career at Ohio Christian University where she competed on the cross country and track teams. During her collegiate career, she earned All-America honors by placing third at the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) championships, becoming Ohio Christian University’s first All-American in cross country. After stepping away from competitive running, she pursued cosmetology and graduated from the Ohio State School of Cosmetology in 2018. Currently, Hines lives in Florida with her husband, Shad, and is a full-time mother to their two children, Melody and Boone.
Haden Karshner – Class of 2020
Haden Kashner was one of the area’s premier track and field athletes while competing in the shot put and discus. A two-time All-Ohioan, Haden was widely known as a consistent contender in the state championships.

After a successful indoor season in 2020, Karshner was considered as a top contender for the 2020 OHSAA state tournament. Unfortunately, his high school track and field career was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic that caused 2020 spring sports to be canceled his senior year.
After high school, Karshner continued his academic and athletic career at the University of Rio Grande. He was a six-time All-River States Conference athlete in the shot put, discus and hammer throw. This included being the RSC indoor shot put champion in 2022, discus runner-up in 2021, outdoor shot put runner-up in 2022 and runner-up in the hammer throw in 2024. Karshner also was named to the River States Conference Scholar Athlete Team in 2022 and 2023.
In 2024, Karshner graduated from the University of Rio Grande with a bachelor’s degree in business management and a minor in healthcare administration. He currently works as a systems administrator at MJM Logistics in Chillicothe and lives with his wife, Emma, in Rio Grande.
Dominic Vagnier – Class of 2015
Dominic Vagnier was a multiple-sport athlete earning nine varsity letters in football, wrestling and track and field. Vagnier is one of the most highly decorated wrestlers in Logan Elm history.

After graduating from high school, Vagnier went on to wrestle at West Liberty University on a wrestling scholarship. Currently, Vagnier is an industrial painter; and, for the past three years, he has been a familiar voice to local sports fans as a commentator for CGTV, providing play-by-play and analysis for football and basketball games. However, his passion remains in the sport that shaped him. Dedicated to fostering the local wrestling community, he serves as a youth coach at the Roundtown Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Center in Circleville. In 2025, he joined the Logan Elm wrestling coaching staff, coaching alongside his brother, Nick. Vagnier stated that returning to his alma mater is more than just a job— it is an opportunity to mentor young athletes where his own journey began.
