


Despite a tough second quarter, Circleville held a lead at halftime, built a small cushion in the third and stayed unbeaten with a non-league win over Miami Trace 49-40 Wednesday night.
With four points from Faith Yancey, Maddie Blakeman and Addison Edgington, plus a three from Gabby McConnell, Circleville got out to a 15-8 lead after the first quarter.
The Tigers’ offense went south in the second quarter as they were able to add only four points on buckets from Edgington and McConnell. MT didn’t fare much better scoring eight points on a pair of three-pointers from Ellie Robinette and a basket from Gracie Lovett. The score at the half saw Circleville on top 19-16.

The Tigers came out in the second half and added some cushion behind eight points from Edgington, seven from Yancey and another three from McConnell.
Jessee Stewart tried to keep the Panthers within reach as she hit a pair of threes and sank two free throws in the third, but MT’s only other points came on a basket from Cali Kirkpatrick as the quarter ended with Circleville up 37-26.
Circleville’s fourth quarter offense was led by Blakeman who had 10 points.
Edgington led the Tigers with 16 points on the night while Blakeman had 14 and Yancey had 11.
Stewart was at the top of the scoring column for MT with 16 points, while Lovett had 10.
Circleville (4-0) hosts Teays Valley (2-2) Friday.
The Panthers (2-5) head to East Clinton next Wednesday.
