Aces finish strong to beat Falcons

AMANDA — Points were hard to come by in the early going for Amanda-Clearcreek but the Aces got them when it mattered to send Fairfield Union home on the short end of a 36-30 score.

AC (15-4, 9-3) managed only 11 points in the first half as the Aces trailed the Falcons 18-11.

The gap closed to 22-20 after the third quarter and then AC outscored the Falcons 16-8 in the final period to win their fourth straight.

Kaylie Wilson had eight of her game-high 12 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Aces. Rachel Weaver and Addie Pugh each had three points in the fourth and Taylor Evans hit a pair of free throws.

Evans finished with nine points and Weaver had seven.

The Falcons (5-12, 3-8) had three players lead with seven points each.

The Aces wrap up the regular season with three more home games — the first of which comes Friday when Bloom-Carroll pays a visit.
