WILLIAMSPORT — Westfall scored the final 10 points of the first period to get a 12-point lead and its lead was never less than 11 the rest of the night on the way to a 60-39 win over visiting Piketon Saturday.

“We talked a lot about coming out the right way,” Westfall coach Kyle Joseph said. “The first time we played we were up 12 in the third quarter the next thing you know, they’re taking us out of what we’re doing and we were pressing a little and it was a one-point game with forty seconds left.

“We talked a lot about being methodical, keep getting stops and be patient on offense. Guys did a really good job coming out and executing.”

Brody Clark had six of those 10 points to end the first quarter as part of a 25-point night.

Westfall led 18-6 after the first quarter and 30-17 at halftime. A 19-10 third quarter extended the lead to 49-27.

Along with Clark’s 25, Bryan Craig had 10 and Henry Barnes had eight.

Westfall had a 33-25 rebounding edge led by Jeremiah Layton with seven to go with six points. He also got his hands on a number of shots during the game.

“He’s been huge for us, and he’s been scoring a lot these last five or six games,” Joseph said. “He plays both ends of the floor and really helps to lead our guys out there.”
