Teays Valley 35, Watkins Memorial 14
PATASKALA — Teays Valley improved to 2-1 with a 35-14 win at Watkins Memorial Friday night.
Watkins (1-2) had a 7-0 lead in the first quarter and used a scoring pass on the first play of the second quarter to make it a 14-0 lead.
Spike Woods got the Vikings on the board on the next possession when he capped TV’s drive with a one-yard run.
Cavin McDowell recovered a Watkins fumble a few plays later and took it 65 to the endzone. A flag on the return negated the touchdown but the Vikings kept the ball. Four plays later, Brady Farmer connected with McDowell for a 12-yard score to tie the ballgame.
The score stayed tied until Spike Woods ran it in from three yards out midway through the third quarter.
The Vikings took a 28-14 lead after a 64-yard pass from Farmer to Brandon Travis on the final play of the third quarter.
Spike Woods capped the night’s scoring with a 32-yard run up the middle for his third score late in the game.
The Vikings (2-1) open OCC play at Lancaster (1-2) next week.
Miami Trace 7, Logan Elm 6
WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE — A tight ballgame went the way of host Miami Trace as the Panthers edged Logan Elm 7-6 Friday night.
MT took an early 7-0 lead with a 27-yard scoring run by Gabriel Carson to cap the game’s opening drive.
The Braves came through in the second quarter with a 14-yard scoring run from Austin Holbrook. The two-point pass failed, and the score stood at 7-6 — which is where it stayed the rest of the night.
Holbrook finished as LE’s top rusher with 98 yards on 21 carries and he was 11-21 passing for 173 yards.
Connor Kint grabbed six balls for 81 yards and Tyler Bowlby had three catches for 78.
The Braves (0-3) return home to host Circleville (3-0) in the eighth edition of the Backyard Brawl.
