Four county wrestlers recognized with BKMF scholarships

Four local wrestlers got a boost in pursuing their college educations when the Ben Kasler Memorial Foundation scholarships were recently awarded.

Recognized this year for their excellence on the mat and in the classroom were Lillian Gaal (Teays Valley), Conner Green (Logan Elm), Jonathon Mills (Circleville) and Josh Zimmer (Teays Valley). They each were rewarded with a $2,500 scholarship.

Zimmer was awarded an addition $2,000 scholarship as the winner of the Clay Davis Award as the most outstanding of the year’s BKMF winners.

Three past winners also were recognized for maintaining a strong grade-point average while continuing their wrestling careers. Gunner Havens (Teays Valley/Kent State), Ava Miller (Teays Valley/Indiana Tech) and Hunter Probasco (Westfall/Ohio Northern) were each presented with $1,000 renewals.

Ben Kasler was a wrestler and 1997 graduate of Circleville High School who passed away in 2003. Since the scholarship’s inception in 2009, the Ben Kasler Memorial Fund has provided more than $135,000 in scholarships to assist Pickaway County wrestlers as they pursue their education.
