Mustangs turn in shutout over Huntsmen

Westfall bounced back from its first loss of the season on Friday with a 36-0 Scioto Valley Conference win over visiting Huntington.
The Mustangs took an 8-0 lead on a 10-yard touchdown pass from Marcus Whaley to Luke Blackburn that was followed by a two-point conversion run courtesy of Red Brown.
Westfall doubled its lead when Whaley called his own number with a six-yard touchdown run and then threw the two-point conversion toss to Blackburn.
Trey Keeton made it 24-0 with a 50-yard touchdown scamper, followed by Whaley tossing another conversion to Blackburn.
The Mustangs scored their final two touchdowns on runs of 10 yards by Whaley and 22 yards from Bryce Wickline.
Westfall (3-1, 3-1) continues conference play next week at Piketon (1-3, 1-3).

Teays Valley was unable to dig its way out of a 14-point deficit on Friday in a 21-12 Mid-State League Buckeye Division loss to host Hamilton Township.
The Rangers took a 14-0 lead in the second quarter on a 60-yard touchdown pass from Brock McGuire to C.J. Holt and a six-yard pass from McGuire to Malcolm Denny.
The Vikings reached the scoreboard on an eight-yard run by Hunter Young in the third quarter, but the Rangers answered back on another touchdown strike, this time an eight-yard pass from McGuire to Holt.
Cooper Booth capped scoring with a 24-yard run for the Vikings (2-2, 2-1), who host Circleville (0-4, 0-3) next week for a league game.
