Three area teams learned that they will host first-round playoff games on Thursday when the Ohio High School Athletic Association released the state football playoff brackets.
All OHSAA member schools for the first time could qualify for the playoffs, due to the shortened six-week regular-season because of COVID-19. Each region was also seeded by the coaches instead of using the traditional Harbin computer rankings. All playoff games kickoff at 7 p.m.
Amanda-Clearcreek (3-1) was seeded 10th in Division V, Region 19 and will host a first-round playoff game for the second consecutive season on Oct. 10 against No. 23 Morgan (1-4).
The winner of that matchup would then travel to No. 7 Liberty Union (4-1) for a second-round playoff game on Oct. 17.
Despite going into the draw with a 3-1 mark, Westfall was seeded just 17th overall by the coaches and will travel on Oct. 10 to No. 16 New Lexington (3-2).
The winner of that game would then travel to defending state runner-up and top-seeded Ironton (5-0) on Oct. 17.
In Division IV, Region 15, No. 15 Logan Elm (3-2) will host a playoff game for the first time since 2009 when the Braves kickoff on Oct. 10 against No. 18 Lakewood (2-3) in the first-round.
The winner of that game is slated to travel to defending state runner-up and second-seeded Licking Valley (4-1) on Oct. 17.
No. 24 Circleville (0-4) drew a first-round road trip to No. 9 John Glenn (3-2) on Oct. 10.
The winner of that game will face either Warren (4-1) or Columbus East (0-2) on Oct. 17.
In Division II, Region 8, No. 11 Teays Valley (2-3) was recognized for its tough schedule that included games against Kings and Bishop Watterson and will host its first playoff game since 2014 on Oct. 9 against No. 22 Briggs (1-1) in the opening round.
The winner of that game would then travel to No. 6 Cincinnati Anderson (3-2) on Oct. 16.
