Friday’s roundup: CHS girls fall to Alexander

Circleville had the better of the play over the final two quarters on Friday, but it wasn’t enough to overcome visiting Alexander in a 43-37 non-league loss.
The Spartans used a 14-5 second quarter to take a 27-16 lead into the break. Circleville cut its deficit to 34-27 going into the final period.
Gabby McConnell led the way with 13 points for the Tigers, and Faith Yancey and Logan Jones added nine apiece.
The Tigers (0-1) host West Jefferson on Tuesday for another non-league game.
Berne Union 41,
Amanda-Clearcreek 29

A 20-point third quarter allowed Berne Union to take control of a non-league game on Friday and defeat host Amanda-Clearcreek 41-29.
The two Fairfield County schools entered the second half tied 12-12, but the Rockets controlled the third quarter by a 20-11 count.
Emily Buckley tallied nine points, Hailey Sowers had seven and Grace Davis added six for the Aces.
Sophia Kline scored 16 points and Abbi Evans added 11 for the Rockets.
The Aces (0-1) continue non-league play on Tuesday when they host Fisher Catholic.
Cols. School For Girls 38,
New Hope Christian 32

New Hope was unable to overcome a slow start on Friday in a 38-32 non-league loss to host Columbus School for Girls.
“We dug a hole early and couldn’t dig out,” NH coach Brian McCallister said. “We need to be much more balanced with our scoring.”
The Unicorns led 14-7 after a quarter and 23-13 at intermission.
Maren McCallister poured in a game-high 22 points and Eden Leist added seven for the Stateswomen.
New Hope (0-1) travels to Zane Trace on Friday.
