COLUMBUS — Senior Natalie Newton wrapped up her Viking career with a ninth-place showing at the Division I state track and field championships.

The Teays Valley pole vaulter had little trouble with the opening heights, needing only one attempt each to clear 10′ 6″, 11 feet and 11′ 6″.
After clearing 12 feet to take second and set a new school record at last week’s regional meet, 12 feet proved to be her undoing this time around.
She will be continuing her academic and athletic career at the University of Findlay next year.
Massillon Perry’s Kendal Fisher was the Div. I champion clearing 13 feet.
