Adena scored 20 straight points in the second quarter to seize the lead for good on Friday in a 34-20 Scioto Valley Conference win over visiting Westfall.
The evening actually started positivity for the Mustangs, who amassed a 17-play touchdown drive that covered 67 yards.
Quarterback Bryce Wickline had five carries for 27 yards, including moving the sticks on a fourth-and-one from the Adena nine, and capped the drive with a 12-yard touchdown pass to Trent Walters.

Wickline then connected with Isaiah Browning on a two-point conversion toss to give the Mustangs an 8-0 lead with 4:21 remaining in the first quarter.
Nate Dreitzler started his big night with a four-yard touchdown run early in the second quarter that was followed by a two-point conversion run to tie the score at 8-8.
Adena took the lead for good on a 12-yard touchdown run courtesy of Austin Magill to make it 14-8, after the two-point toss failed.
Dayton Graves then took a toss sweep and ran it in from 35 yards out with only 34 ticks showing on the second quarter clock that sent the Warriors into halftime with a 20-8 advantage.
Adena kept its momentum going midway through the third quarter when Andrew Vickers connected with Graves on a 12-yard touchdown strike. Dreitzler ran in the two-point conversion to stake the Warriors to a 28-8 lead.
Wickline trimmed the Warriors’ lead to 28-14 with 1:44 left in the period on a 17-yard touchdown run.
Dreitzler gave the Warriors a three-score lead again with 4:52 remaining on a nine-yard touchdown run.
Casey Cline capped scoring for the Mustangs with an 84-yard kickoff return.

Westfall committed four turnovers in the loss against none for Adena.
Dreitzler finished the night with 261 yards rushing for the Warriors and scored a pair of touchdowns.
Wickline completed 16 of 32 passes for 190 yards and a touchdown and added 61 yards rushing and another score.
Trent Walters made three receptions for 100 yards and a touchdown, Jaden Towler had seven grabs for 49 yards and Cline chipped in three catches for 26 yards.
The Mustangs (2-5, 1-3) host Huntington (3-3, 1-3) next week for homecoming, while the Warriors (3-4, 2-2) entertain Piketon (3-4, 1-3).
Huntington is coming off a 38-26 loss to Paint Valley last night, while Piketon routed Southeastern 40-14.
