TV’s Keplar claims sectional medalist honors

There is nothing like starting the postseason by claiming medalist honors.

And that’s what Teays Valley senior Audrey Keplar accomplished on Tuesday in a Division I Central District sectional tournament held at Blacklick Woods Golf Course.

Keplar shared medalist honors with Dublin Jerome senior Audrey Ryu, with each golfer turning in a scorecard of 72. Ryu shot a 36 on the front nine and 36 on the back, while Keplar shot 35 on the front and 37 on the back nine.

The Teays Valley senior was the first of three individuals to qualify for Monday’s district tournament and accomplished the feat for a fourth consecutive season.

“I had a great round,” Keplar said. “Blacklick can be challenging with a lot of areas you can get in trouble.

“I hit the ball well and my putter was great. It always feels good to get out of sectionals and I’m really happy doing it with such a great round. I’m ready for districts on Monday.”
