Tigers earn top seed in SE District volleyball

The Circleville volleyball team received the top seed on Sunday in the upcoming Division II Southeast District tournament.


The Tigers (17-3) are slated to host a sectional final in the top bracket on Oct. 19 against the winner of a sectional semifinal match between No. 16 seeded Jackson (8-8) and No. 17 seed McClain (7-14).

If the Tigers win in the sectional final, they would host either eighth-seeded Unioto (15-4) or ninth-seeded Athens (14-6) for a district semifinal on Oct. 24.

Circleville won the Unioto Invitational earlier this season with a thrilling three-set win over the host Shermans in the championship match.

Two district finals are scheduled for Oct. 29 at Southeastern, with the top bracket slated to start at 11 a.m.


Logan Elm (7-13) is seeded No. 12, also in the top bracket, and is slated to travel to fifth-seeded New Lexington (16-4) for a sectional final on Oct. 19.


In Division III, Westfall (7-14) was seeded 14th in the middle bracket and is slated to travel 11th seeded Huntington (9-10) for a sectional final on Oct. 20.


Westfall and Huntington split its two meetings during Scioto Valley Conference play this season.

In Division II boys soccer, Circleville (0-12) is seeded 17th and travels to 16th seeded Sheridan (0-10-3) on Oct. 15 for a sectional quarterfinal.


Logan Elm (1-10-2) is seeded 13th and is slated to travel to fourth-seeded Marietta (8-3-2) for a sectional semifinal on Oct. 17 at 5 p.m.


Westfall (7-5-2) is seeded 13th in Division III and is scheduled to host 20th seeded Eastern Brown (3-12) on Oct. 18 at 5 p.m. for a sectional semifinal.


In Division II girls soccer, Circleville (6-6-2) is seeded seventh on the bottom bracket and is slated to host 10th seeded McClain (4-6-2) in a sectional final on Oct. 20.


Logan Elm (5-8-2) is seeded ninth in the top bracket and is scheduled to travel to eighth-seeded Hillsboro (6-9-1) also on Oct. 20 for a sectional final.


Westfall (3-9-0) is seeded 13th in the top bracket in Division III and is slated to travel to fourth-seeded Fairfield (11-2-1) on Oct. 19 for a sectional final.


Central District
In Division I, Teays Valley was seeded 37th and travels to 26th seeded DeSales for a sectional semifinal in volleyball on Oct. 17.

Amanda-Clearcreek was seeded 19th in Division III and travels to third-seeded Johnstown for a sectional semifinal on Oct. 18.


Teays Valley was seeded 32nd in Division I boys soccer and travels to 31st seeded Logan on Oct. 18 for a sectional semifinal.


Amanda-Clearcreek is seeded 16th in Division II and travels to 11th seeded Johnstown on Oct. 17 for a sectional semifinal.


Teays Valley was seeded 30th in Division I girls soccer and travels to 16th seeded Worthington Kilbourne on Oct. 22 for a sectional final.


Amanda-Clearcreek was seeded eighth in Division III and will host 10th seeded West Muskingum on Oct. 22 for a sectional final.
