Mustangs in fifth after first round of state tourney

The Westfall girls golf team finished the first day of the Division II state tournament on Friday in fifth with a team score of 363.

The Westfall girls golf team posed for a team photo before boarding the bus on Thursday to depart for a practice round at The Ohio State University Gray Golf Course.

Columbus Academy topped the 12-school field at The Ohio State University Gray Golf Course with a team score of 317, followed by Garaway (337), Van Buren (347) and Independence (352).

Emily Cook led the Mustangs with a scorecard of 83 (40-43), Paige Weiss shot 85 (41-44), Maddie Cook turned in an 86 (41-45) and Marianna Packer had 109 (52-57). Alexa Oney also played for the Mustangs and shot 112 (60-52).

The Mustangs tee off at 9 a.m. on Saturday from the first hole for the second and final round of the state tournament.
