New Hope went the distance Saturday to take the Ohio Christian School Athletic Association title from defending champion Mars Hill Academy.
After dropping the first set 18-25, the Statesmen bounced back to tie the match with a 25-13 win in the second set.
Mars Hill took a 2-1 advantage after the third set with another 25-18 score.
In the fourth set it was New Hope coming out on top 25-18 to send the championship match to a decisive fifth set.
The Statesmen nailed down the title beating Mars Hill 15-5.
This was the first OCSAA title for New Hope after finishing second in the 2018 and 2019 tournaments.
