Aces edge Falcons with run in sixth

Amanda-Clearcreek pushed across the go-ahead run in the sixth inning on Friday on its way to a 5-4 Mid-State League Buckeye Division win over visiting Fairfield Union.

Carly Singleton lined a single to right that opened the home sixth and then stole second. Haley Robinson then lined a single to left that scored Singleton and gave the Aces a 5-4 lead.

Casadee Steinmetz then retired the Falcons in order in the seventh. She allowed six hits and four runs, three earned, in the complete game effort. The freshman right-hander walked three and struck out three.

Amanda-Clearcreek scored once in the second, again in the third and two more times in the fourth to take a 4-0 lead. Fairfield Union scored once in the fifth and three times in the top of the sixth to tie the game at 4-4.

Robinson was 3-for-4 with two RBI, Singleton went 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored and Hailey Sowers added a 2-for-3 evening with an RBI and run scored.

The Aces (5-5, 2-3) continue league play on Monday when they travel to Logan Elm.
