Roundup: Bulldogs defeat Vikings to double lead in MSL-Buckeye baseball race

Bloom-Carroll rallied with a four-run sixth inning on Monday to defeat host Teays Valley 5-3 in a key Mid-State League Buckeye Division baseball win.

The Bulldogs (13-2, 6-0) doubled its lead in the loss column over the Vikings (9-4, 6-2) with the win.

Teays Valley tied the game in the third and used a two-run fifth to take a 3-1 lead.

Ivan Smith went 2-for-3 and drove in three runs and Jeremiah Fabbro added a double for the Vikings, who continue league play on Tuesday when they travel to Liberty Union.

Hamilton Township 0

Blayne Barker tossed a three-hitter on Monday to lead the Aces to a 2-0 MSL-Buckeye win over host Hamilton Township.

Barker walked one and struck out four batters in the win for the Aces (3-10, 2-7), who host the Rangers on Tuesday for another league tilt.

Huntington 1,
Westfall 0

Huntington scored the lone run of a Scioto Valley Conference contest in the first on Monday in a 1-0 win over host Westfall.

Trent Walters went 2-for-4, including a double, to lead the Mustangs.

Noah Stonerock took the tough loss, allowing five hits and an earned run over seven innings. He walked a batter and struck out right.

The Mustangs (8-3, 5-3) continue conference play on Tuesday at Adena.

Softball
Westfall 17,
Huntington 2

Westfall pounded out 14 hits on Monday as it rolled to a 17-2 Scioto Valley Conference win over visiting Huntington in five innings.

The Mustangs went ahead 6-0 in the first and led 16-2 through two innings.

Gabby Henry turned in a perfect 4-for-4 ledger with five RBI and two runs scored, Olivia Dumm was a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, Makayla Cook was 2-for-3 and drove in two runs and Ava Heath was 2-for-4 and scored four times.

Dumm earned the win for the Mustangs (8-6, 6-2), who continue conference play on Tuesday at Adena.

Amanda-Clearcreek 14,
Hamilton Township 7′

Amanda-Clearcreek scored seven times in the fourth to seize the lead on Monday on its way to a 14-7 MSL-Buckeye win over host Hamilton Township.

The Aces led 11-5 after four and added another insurance run in the sixth and two more in the seventh.

Averie Hutchison went 4-for-5 with three RBI and three runs scored, Carly Singleton was 3-for-4, drove in a run and scored twice, Megan Tooill accounted for a 2-foor-5 evening with two RBI and a run scored and Cassadee Steinmetz was 2-for-5 and earned the win in the circle.

The Aces (6-8, 3-6) continue league play on Tuesday when they host the Rangers.
