Aces working hard to replace graduated players

Amanda-Clearcreek Aces Girls Soccer

Coach: Bailey Opperman

2022 finish: 10-7-1, 3-4-1 fifth in Mid-State League Buckeye Division
Key returnees: Senior Rachel Weaver (first-team all-league and second-team all-district), sophomore Abbie Leddingham (honorable mention all-league)
Key newcomers: Senior Hailey Sowers, sophomore Kaylie Wilson, freshman Ava Rowley
Key losses: The Aces graduated seven seniors, six of which were starters. Included in those losses are keeper Kayden Kern, versatile midfielder Emily Buckley and their top goal scorer for the last four years Emilee Stats.

Coach’s comments: This team is young and there are a lot of areas for growth this season, but the girls are putting in the work to improve every day. They want to play for each other and we are creating a positive team atmosphere on and off the field. We will rely on strong defending from returning center backs Rachel Weaver and Abbie Leddingham in front of new goalkeeper Kaylie Wilson. We will be looking for first-year player Hailey Sowers and freshman Ava Rowley to be difference makers for us on both sides of the ball.

Because we graduated so many seniors/starters, there are numerous opportunities for these young/new players to step up and make an impact. I am looking forward to watching this team develop and improve throughout the season.
