Circleville opened Mid-State League Buckeye Division play on Thursday with a marathon five-set win of 20-25, 25-23, 34-32, 21-25 and 15-11 over visiting Fairfield Union.
Gabby McConnell helped to lead the Tigers with 14 kills, 15 assists and 24 digs, Ally Thornsley dished out 27 assists and tacked on 10 kills and 22 digs; Addison Edgington put down 17 kills and also had five blocks; Sydney Lattimer led the defense with 38 digs and also served four aces; Maddie Blakeman tallied seven kills and 15 digs and Drew Hoskins chipped in five kills and four blocks.
The Tigers (2-0, 1-0) travel to Zane Trace on Saturday for a non-league match.

Logan Elm finished its run through part of the Scioto Valley Conference to open the season on Thursday with a 25-9, 25-20 and 25-23 non-league win over host Westfall.
Claire King put away 17 kills; Kennedy Groff had six kills; Adelyn Smith contributed five kills; Lynsay VanHoose led the defense with 16 digs; Sadie Binkley posted 11 digs and Kiki Ingram had nine digs and Hannah Rhoads dished out 28 assists for the Braves.
The Braves (2-1) host Fairfield Union on Tuesday to open MSL-Buckeye competition.
