Tigers win sectional, Mustangs second

GREENFIELD — Circleville’s girls set another program record Monday when they posted an 18-hole team score of 326 as the Tigers won a Southeast District Division II golf sectional at Buckeye Hills Golf Course.

Elaina Seeley fired a personal best 67 to lead the Tigers and earn match medalist honors. She had six birdies in the round and shot 31 on the back nine. 

Westfall’s Paige Weiss was runner-up having posted a round of 69.

Westfall took second with a 342. Both advance to next week’s district tournament along with Manchester (379) and West Union (398).

Isabelle Perini shot a career-best round of 79 for the Tigers, Izzy Seeley shot 84, Lis Sharp had a career-best 84 and Aleigh Michael had a 131. 

Caroline Sever shot 86 for the Mustangs, Marianna Packer shot 89, Kathryn Lockhart shot 98 and Michelle Pickett had a round of 103. 

Logan Elm finished eighth in the team standings with a score of 440. 

Cicely Esterline led the Braves with a 102, Addison Lester had a 105, Mallory Stevens shot 106, Anna Fike had a 127 and Jessica Fike shot 136. 

Along with the four teams, four individuals not on a qualifying team also advance to next Tuesday’s district tournament at the Chillicothe Jaycees. 

Qualifying for her fourth district tournament was Adena’s Syndey Ater (76) along with New Lexington’s Peyton Everett (83), Zane Trace’s Mary Helber (89) and North Adams’ Emmy Holt (91).

Joining the Tigers and the Mustangs next week will be Gallia Academy, Waterford, Federal Hocking and Fairland out of the Cliffside Golf Course sectional and Ironton, Piketon, South Webster and Minford coming from the Franklin Valley Golf Course Sectional. 

Only one team and one other individual will advance to the state championships.
