Mustangs earn sixth trip to state, Tigers second at district; TV boys wrap up season

CHILLICOTHE — After finishing second at last week’s sectional, Westfall rebounded to post a three-shot win over Circleville to earn the school’s sixth trip to the state tournament. 

The Mustangs posted a team 358 at the Chillicothe Jaycees Golf Course while the Tigers posted a 361. 

Ironton took third with a 378 and Piketon was fourth with a 399.

While Manchester was fifth with a 409, Taylor Ralston was match medalist with a 70. That earned the Manchester senior a berth as an individual in the state tournament as only one team and one other individual earned a spot in the Division II state championships. 

Paige Weiss led the Mustangs with a (36-37) 73, Caroline Sever shot a (45-48) 93, Marianna Packer shot a (45-49) 94 and Alexa Onley had a round of (49-49) 98. Michelle Pickett rounded out the Mustangs’ contingent with a (53-52) 105.

Elaina Seeley led Circleville with a (37-37) 74, while Izzy Seeley had a (41-45) 86, Isabelle Perini shot a round of (47-43) 90 and Alyssa Sharp had a (55-56) 111. Aleigh Michael completed Circleville’s contingent with a round of (78-71) 149. 

Westfall will be playing in the state tournament next weekend, Oct. 13 and 14, at Ohio State’s Gray Course.

Vikings 10th at Darby Creek sectional

MARYSVILLE — Teays Valley wrapped up its season as the Vikings boys took 10th at Central District Division I sectional contested at Darby Creek Golf Course.

Dublin Coffman came out on top with a 290, St. Charles shot 292 and Westerville Central was third with a 303. They each advance to the district.

The Vikings shot a team 355 to finish 10th.

Coffman’s Luke Warner was medalist with a 67.

Teays Valley was led by James Bush with an 81. Caden Sherman and Vance Hanger each shot 89 and Carter Hutchison rounded out the scoring with a 96.
