LE’s Cline on to state

WILLIAMSPORT — Wheelersburg and Sheridan grabbed the two spots up for grabs in the Division II state championship during Wednesday’s Southeast District tournament at Crown Hill Golf Course. 

Circleville was seven shots off the pace to finish third and Logan Elm took the fifth spot.

While the Braves placed fifth as a team, junior Grant Cline was one of four players to shoot a round of 79. 

Logan Elm’s Grant Cline put together a round of 79 and earned a spot in the state tournament.

Going to a scorecard playoff, Cline came out on top over Ironton’s Carson Blankenship and Waverly’s Ben Nichols to earn a spot as an individual at the state tournament Oct. 13 and 14 at Northstar Golf Club in Sunbury.

Wheelersburg’s Brady Gill was the match medalist with a round of 75 and Unioto’s Charlie Lewis claimed the other individual berth taking second with a round of 77. 

Reid Seimetz led Circleville with a round of 81 Wednesday.

Reid Seimetz led the Tigers with an 81, Brady Reuter shot a round of 83, Liam McConnell posted an 86 and Michael Fernandez shot 88. Jude Blair rounded out the Tigers’ day with a 99. 

Grant Cline’s round of 79 led the Braves, Graham Williams shot 85 and Will Higginbotham and Mason Gentry each had an 89. Parker Calder put together a round of 105 to finish out LE’s day.
