Logan Elm rode a hot start to a 57-38 win over visiting Washington Court House Tuesday night.
The Braves (2-0) got out to a 10-0 lead while forcing eight turnovers and holding the Blue Lions (1-1) to 0-8 shooting before the visitors finally hit the scoreboard with three minutes to go in the first period. At the end of the period, LE was up 18-2 on 8-14 shooting, had forced 10 turnovers and held its opponent to 1-12 shooting from the field.
By halftime, the LE lead was 34-10.
“You couldn’t ask for more intensity before the game. Talking with coach Denen before the game, he knew what we were trying to become and the great thing is we were still able to be successful,” LE coach Mike Schultz said. “The kids brought a lot of intensity, and it was purposeful.
“We didn’t settle for just being up a couple, we tried to keep going.”
Kiki Ingram had 16 of her game-high 20 points in the first half as the Braves had 11 players score Tuesday night.

The second half was a bit more even.
Calleigh Wead-salmi had eight of her team-best 13 in the third quarter for the Blue Lions as the period ended with a 46-24 Braves’ lead.
“You can see that after halftime when we tried to just get in a halfcourt mentality, it was hard for us to bring that level of intensity and we became a little bit stagnant,” Schultz said.
After turning the ball over 14 times in the first half, Washington turned it over only once in the third quarter.
Logan Elm had a 29-25 rebounding edge in the game with Ingram and Kimberly Petty each grabbing five and Kennedy Groff and Maggie Wilson each had four. Wead-Salmi and Eliana Racine led the Blue Lions with six each.
