Hunter Cavanaugh lit up the nets for 31 points Friday night in a 77-63 win for New Hope over visiting Wellston.
He led three Statesmen who scored in double figures as Lane Bruning had 12 and Landen Parker had 11.
For Wellston (1-4), the scoring was dominated by Will Briggs and Wes Briggs.
Will had 12 of his team-best 27 in the first quarter as the Rockets had an early 22-19 lead.
Wes was scoreless in the first but went to have 20 in the contest.
The Statesmen improve to 5-0 and host Newark Catholic Tuesday.

Aces take Lions by eight
AMANDA — Amanda-Clearcreek had an eight-point advantage in the second quarter on the way to posting an eight-point win over visiting Liberty Union 50-42 Friday night.
The Lions led 10-9 after the first quarter but the Aces had a 26-19 lead by the half.
Taylor Evans led the Aces with a game-high 18 points and Grace Davis and Kaylie Wilson each had 10.
The Aces improve to 6-1 on the season with a 4-1 mark in the Mid-State League and travel to unbeaten Bloom-Carroll Tuesday.

Bulldogs stay unbeaten
Emily Bratton had 20 of her game-high 22 points in the second half to help Bloom-Carroll pull away from Logan Elm on the way to a 55-29 win.
Logan Elm had a 9-8 lead after the first quarter, with all nine points coming from Kiannah Ingram.
The Bulldogs (7-0, 4-0) had a 20-13 lead by halftime. The BC advantage was 38-17 by the end of the third.
Outside shooting was key in the game with the Bulldogs hitting 10 three-pointers to LE’s three.
Ingram had a team-high 18 for LE and Kimmy Petty had six.
Tessa Brooks added 13 for BC and Marissa Wilkinson had 10.
The Lady Braves (4-3, 1-3) return to action Tuesday at Liberty Union.

Fast start lifts Mustangs to 4-0
A fast start for Westfall helped the Mustangs stay unbeaten with a 77-47 win over visiting Paint Valley.
Joe Wray had 10 first-quarter points as the Mustangs started with a 16-9 first quarter.
Brody Clark scored 13 points in the second quarter as Westfall extended its lead to 41-20 at the half.
While Paint Valley cut three points off Westfall’s lead in the third, the Mustangs outscored their guests 23-11 in the fourth.
Clark added nine points in the fourth to wrap up a 29-point effort. Wray ended the night with 21 points and Bryan Craig had 14 points.
Carson Free led Paint Valley with 23.
At 4-0 for the first time since 2009, the Mustangs host Huntington Tuesday.
