Roundup: Aces notch 7th win, Braves split, Mustangs unbeaten, Statesmen stop Green Wave

CARROLL — Amanda-Clearcreek survived a three-point second quarter on the way to a 39-36 road win against Bloom-Carroll. 

A 10-point opening quarter from Grace Davis helped the Aces to a 12-8 early lead. 

BC’s defense limited the Aces to a free throw by Davis and a basket from Hailey Sowers while holding an 18-15 edge over the Aces at halftime. 

With five points from Taylor Evans, four more from Davis and a basket by Kaylie Wilson in the third, AC was able to get back on top 26-25 heading into the fourth. 

After scoring 15 points in the first three periods, the Bulldogs held Davis scoreless in the fourth, but Wilson kicked in five, Sowers added a bucket and Evans scored six points, including hitting four of six free throws, to seal the win. 

The Aces (7-1, 5-1) are back on the road Friday at Lakewood.

Lady Braves grab league win over Liberty Union

Logan Elm was a 50-45 winner over Liberty Union Tuesday night.  

Leading the way for LE was Kimmy Petty with 16, followed by Kiannah Ingram with 14 and Kennedy Groff with 13. 

Logan Elm improves to 5-3 (2-3 in MSL) and will host Huntington Thursday with JV tipoff at 5:30.

Panthers defeat Braves

WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE — A 25-point night from Nemiah Waugh wasn’t enough to lift Logan Elm over Miami Trace Tuesday as the Panthers notched the 50-44 win. 

The Braves were hindered by 18 turnovers on the night while MT put six players in the scoring column. 

Adam Guthrie led the Panthers with 18 and Grant Guess added 15. 

Brody Sabine kicked in 10 for the Braves.

Mustangs roll past Huntington

WILLIAMSPORT — Westfall rolled to its fifth win in as many tries as the Mustangs beat Huntington 70-43 Tuesday.

Westfall (5-0) had a 16-9 lead after the first quarter and had the edge up to 41-21 by halftime.

Brody Clark and Joe Wray each had 15 points at halftime.

Clark added 13 more in the second half to lead Westfall with 28 points. Wray finished with the 15 and Jerry Layton and Brydan Gall each had eight.

Bruning leads New Hope over Newark Catholic

A nine-point edge in the third quarter helped New Hope to a 72-56 win over visiting Newark Catholic Tuesday night. 

Lane Bruning had 11 of his game-high 23 points in the second quarter to help the Statesmen to a 35-31 advantage. 

The New Hope defense stepped up in the third quarter as it held the Green Wave to seven points while the offense added 16 for a 51-38 lead. 

Hunter Cavanaugh had seven of his 10 points in the fourth quarter as the Statesmen held the Wave (0-4) at bay. 

Nathaniel Ames kicked in 16 points for New Hope (6-0) and Landon Parker had 12. 

New Hope travels to Westfall Thursday.
