Westfall remains unbeaten with win over New Hope

WILLIAMSPORT — Westfall bounced back from a slow start to beat New Hope 66-59 Thursday night. 

The win moves the Mustangs to 6-0 on the season while it was the first setback for New Hope (6-1).

The Statesmen got out to a 15-8 lead in the first quarter and were up 28-26 at halftime. 

An almost even third quarter had the difference down to a single point and the Mustangs were able to outscore the Statesmen by eight in the fourth to get the win. 

Joe Wray had seven of his 20 points in the fourth in leading Westfall’s scoring. 

Jeremiah had 10 of his 17 in the second half for the Mustangs. Brody Clark added 13. 

Lane Bruning had 13 points in the third quarter on the way to a 22-point night for New Hope and Hunter Cavanaugh had 20. Nathaniel Ames put in nine and Landon Parker added eight. 

The teams are back after the Christmas holiday with the Mustangs playing Minford Wednesday at Circleville High School and New Hope hosts Adena Friday.
