Trailing 16-14 at the half, Circleville responded to defeat host and rival Logan Elm 38–24.

“At half I challenged them, our communication wasn’t there, and our energy was not there like it was supposed to be. I don’t expect them to be perfect, but we talk about energy all the time and I give Logan Elm credit,” Circleville coach Brian Bigam said.

Three straight Circleville baskets after half led to a Braves’ time out.

“Our message was to keep doing what we practiced all week and keep playing a physical brand of ball and make and hope shots would go down,” Logan Elm coach Mike Schultz said.

The Braves weren’t able to calm the Tigers down as Circleville outscored their hosts 12-4 the rest of the quarter to hold a 32-20 lead heading into the final quarter.

“We knew they would come out to trap after half and those first two minutes would be vital and that’s what the game came down to,” Schultz said.

Circleville had the first six points of the fourth coming on a basket from Edgington and two scores from Blakeman to go up 38-20.

Logan Elm got baskets from Ingram and Maggie Wilson to close out the game’s scoring.

“I was proud of our answer after half and we were able to get some shots to drop,” Bigam said.

Circleville started the game’s scoring when Edgington grabbed an offensive rebound and put it in for a score. Blakeman added a basket for a 4-0 Tigers’ lead. Kennedy Groff started off the Braves’ scoring with a three-pointer.

With seven from Edgington and four from Blakeman, Circleville ended the quarter with an 11-8 lead. Along with Groff’s three, Kiannah Ingram had a three and Maggie Wilson scored for the Braves.

Edgington had the first three points of the second quarter coming from four free throw attempts and those ended up being Circleville’s only points of the second.

LE clawed back and Emma Largent scored off a rebound to tie the game at 14-14. A pair of free throws from Ingram with 11 seconds left gave the Braves the 16-14 lead at the half.

Edgington was the game’s top scorer with 20 points and she grabbed 10 rebounds as well. Blakeman put in 14.

Ingram led the Braves with 10 points.
