WILLIAMSPORT — An extra four minutes was needed Thursday night for Westfall to down Zane Trace 56-54 in a battle of two of the top teams in the SVC standings.
The Pioneers got out to a 12-7 lead after the first period but eight points from Brody Clark helped the Mustangs take a 23-22 lead at the half.
Bryan Craig had a big fourth quarter for the Mustang as he had 10 of his game-high 20 points in the period.
In overtime, Brydan Gall had a three-point play, Jeremiah Layton scored three points and Clark and Craig each added a free throw to help the Mustangs to the win.
Along with 20 from Craig, Clark had 14 and Layton had 13.
Gunnar McCullough led the Pioneers with 15 points – 10 in the fourth quarter, Landen Jarrell put in 14 and Brock Jarrell sunk four three-pointers for 12.
The win by the Mustangs (10-5, 6-2) creates a three-way tie for second in the standings with Zane Trace (6-8, 6-2) and Adena (11-5, 6-2). The three sit a half-game behind Unioto (9-5, 6-1).
Westfall heads to Paint Valley (1-12, 1-6) Saturday night.

Braves fall to Athens
THE PLAINS — Logan Elm dropped a road game to Athens Thursday night 67-53.
The Braves’ Kiannah Ingram led all scorers with 27 points and Athens’ Brystol Stump put in 26.
Kimmy Petty and Kennedy Groff each added eight for the Braves.
LE is on the road again Saturday as the Braves (7-10) head to Bloom-Carroll with the varsity tip set for 2:30 p.m.
