Southeast District Division III
SB — Westfall 19, Federal Hocking 2 (5 innings)
WILLIAMSPORT — Westfall had little trouble in advancing in the Mustangs’ opening round tournament game as they beat visiting Federal Hocking 19-2 in five innings.
Adrina Hicks limited the 31st seeded Lancers to two hits and walked only two while striking out 10 to help the No. 18 Mustangs advance.
A rough Lancer start benefited the Mustangs as the first nine Westfall batters reached base on walks. By the end of the inning, Westfall had sent 15 batters to the plate and had a 9-1 lead.
Westfall added three in the second, four in the third and three in the fourth.
Seventeen Mustangs had plate appearances Monday as they had nine hits and drew 20 walks.
Westfall (9-11) advance to play at No. 7 Fairfield (16-7) Thursday at 5 p.m.
Central District Division III
SB — Marion Pleasant 6, Amanda-Clearcreek 0
MARION — Amanda-Clearcreek had its season come to an end with a 6-0 loss to No. 12 seed Marion Pleasant Monday.
The 15th-seeded Aces were limited to one hit Monday – a leadoff single from Alex Martin in the fourth inning. And the Aces had only four base runners for the game.
Casadee Steinmetz pitched for the Aces and gave up the six runs (three earned) on five hits with three walks and she struck out five.
The Aces wrap up the season with a 4-14 record.
Regular Season
SB — Circleville 4, Jackson 3
CIRCLEVILLE — Circleville scored twice in the bottom of the seventh inning to beat visiting Jackson 4-3 Monday.
Having lost their lead in the top of the inning on a two-run single, the Tigers opened the bottom of the inning with a walk by Ella Michael.
After a strikeout, Kayla Fleck singled. Michael advanced to third and Fleck took second on the play.
Ally Thornsley laid down a bunt that brought in Michael to tie the game while Fleck advanced to third and Thornsley reached first safely.
Claire Davis was at bat when a wild pitch allowed Fleck to come home with the winning run.
Gabby McConnell pitched for the Tigers going all seven innings. She gave up three earned runs on six hits with four walks and she struck out seven.
BB — Teays Valley 3, Liberty Union 0
BALTIMORE — Tyler Matthews threw a four-hit shutout as Teays Valley beat Liberty Union 3-0 Monday.
Matthews struck out 12 and walked only two over the seven innings.
It was a scoreless game until the top of the fifth when Landon Vandegrift drove in a run on a sacrifice fly and Luke Smith had an RBI single to make it a 2-0 game.
Smith drove in another run with a sacrifice fly in the seventh.
BB — Amanda-Clearcreek 6, New Lexington 4
NEW LEXINGTON — A couple untimely New Lexington errors helped Amanda-Clearcreek to a 6-4 win Monday.
With the game tied at 3-3, two of AC’s first three batters reached on errors. The second allowed a run to score.
Later in the inning, AC added a run on a wild pitch and a fielder’s choice.
Brody Elder started for AC and went 3.1 innings. He gave up three runs (one earned) on three hits with three walks and he struck out one.
Gary Kemmerling got the win pitching a scoreless two-thirds of an inning with one walk.
Nick Holland pitched the final three innings for the save giving up one unearned run on two hits with a walk and three strikeouts.
BB — Southeastern 4, Logan Elm 2
CHILLICOTHE — Southeastern scored three times in the bottom of the sixth to grab a 4-2 win over visiting Logan Elm.
The Panthers had a 1-0 lead after the second.
Logan Elm came back to momentarily take the lead in the top of the sixth.
Kelton Bennington scored on a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly from Brady Neff brough in Zane Seimer for a 2-1 LE lead.
An error and three Panther hits in the bottom of the inning helped them retake the lead.
Dylan Neff started for the Braves and pitched four innings. He gave up one run on one hit with six strikeouts.
Grant Cline took the loss as he pitched the final two innings giving up three unearned runs on three hits with three strikeouts.
BB — Unioto 3, Circleville 1
CIRCLEVILLE — A three-run fifth inning gave Unioto what it needed to grab a 3-1 win at Circleville Monday.
Circleville was limited to three hits Monday. Trent Smith had two of those – the first coming in the third inning and he would come around to score on a double from Austin Gray.
A sacrifice fly and a two-run double for the Shermans in the fifth proved to be the decisive runs.
JD Reuter pitched for the Tigers. He gave up the three runs on five hits with four walks and three strikeouts.
