BB — Teays Valley 3, Pickerington Central 2
ASHVILLE — Walks were Teays Valley’s best friend Saturday as the Vikings picked up a 3-2 win.
With the score tied at 2-2 to begin the sixth, Landon Vandegrift, Luke Smith and Tyler Blankenship all drew walks to load the bases. Chase Liddell drew the fourth walk of the inning which sent Vandegrift across the plate with the go-ahead run.
Tyler Matthews pitched six innings to get the win for the Vikings. He allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits while striking out seven and walking one.
Luke Reese pitched the seventh for the save with one strikeout.
TV got on the scoreboard first when the Vikings got two runners on via walks and then – after both moved up a base – a groundout from Vandegrift allowed Westin Woodrum to score.
TV’s second run came in the fourth inning when Tyler Blankenship walked, moved to second on a wild pitch and then came in to score when Reese doubled to left to put TV up 2-0.
The Tigers tied the game in the fifth inning on a steal of home and an error on a fly ball.
BB — Bexley 6, Amanda-Clearcreek 5 (8 innings)
BEXLEY — Bexley singled in the bottom of the eighth to bring in the winning run for a 6-5 decision over visiting Amanda-Clearcreek Saturday.
Amanda-Clearcreek’s big inning came in fifth.
Blayne Barker reached on an error, Nick Holland singled and Gary Kemmerling walked to load the bases – all with two outs. Braxton Bussard then hit a ground ball to third and an error on the play resulted in all three base runners scoring and Barker going all the way to third for a 5-3 AC lead.
The Lions answered in the bottom of the inning with two runs to tie the game before eventually winning in their last at-bat.
Brady Holbrook had two hits for the Aces with the other two coming from Holland and Bodie Martin.
SB — Wheelersburg 10, Circleville 0 (6 innings)
WHEELERSBURG — Circleville struggled to get base runners Saturday in falling at Wheelersburg 10-0 in six innings.
The Pirates (19-2) gave up only six hits to the Tigers and didn’t issue a walk.
Catie Boggs led the Pirates with a solo home run in the first and a three-run homer in the third.
Kaylee West had two hits for Circleville while Claire Davis, Gabby McConnell, Makaylee Holbrook and Maddie Blakeman each had singles.
McConnell pitched for the Tigers allowing the 10 runs (five earned) on nine hits with four walks.
The Tigers committed six errors in the game.
