BB — No. 18 Westfall 5, No. 7 South Point 1
SOUTH POINT — Westfall made the most of the long bus ride to South Point Thursday as the No. 18 seed Mustangs upset the No. 7 seed Pointers 5-1 to advance in the Southeast District tournament.
Westfall wasted little time as the Mustangs jumped out in front in their first at-bat.
After the first two Mustangs were retired, Noah Stonerock had a hit and Brenden Tuttle drew a walk. Bryce Wickline then singled to right field to bring in Stonerock and Tuttle advanced to third.
Tuttle scored by stealing home and Wickline advanced to second on the play.
Brady Mullins then hit one to third that was misplayed allowing Wickline to come in to put the Mustangs up 3-0.
The score stayed there until the bottom of the fourth when the first two Pointers drew walks, and an error loaded the bases. A single then pushed across South Point’s lone run of the game.
The Mustangs got out of the inning when Tuttle struck out the next batter, there was a foul popup caught and then a grounder to second retired the Pointers in the inning.
Westfall added a couple of insurance runs in the seventh when Trent Gardner led off with a single and AJ Pluta followed with a double to right field. Walters then singled to center to bring in Gardner and Pluta.

BB — No. 3 Sheridan 3, No. 14 Logan Elm 2 (8 innings)
THORNVILLE — Sheridan opened the bottom of the eighth inning with a single followed up by an RBI double to end Logan Elm’s season 3-2.

Sheridan didn’t have a baserunner for four innings before a batter reached on an error in the sixth. But a double play took care of that.
In the seventh, a hit batter gave Sheridan a base runner with one out. A fielder’s choice got the lead runner. Catcher Carson Summers then threw out a runner trying to steal second to end the seventh.
The Braves (11-13) scored their two runs in third when Kyle Rine reached on an error and Colton Eplin doubled. Kelton Bennington hit a grounder to first that was misplayed allowing Rine to score. Keegan Diehl then hit a grounder to second which brought in Ebert.
