Southeast District Division II
BB — Miami Trace 1, Circleville 0 (8 innings)
CIRCLEVILLE — Circleville got an excellent pitching performance from JD Reuter, but Miami Trace got the job done when it needed to in a 1-0 tournament win Wednesday.
Reuter had gone seven innings without giving up a run.
But a one-out error in the eighth put MT’s Gaige Stuckey on second base.
After a fly out to center, the Panthers’ Brady Armstrong had only the fourth MT hit but it was enough to bring Stuckey in with the game-ending run.
It was appropriate that Stuckey scored the winning run as he was the one who kept Circleville from scoring for eight innings.
Stuckey gave up only one hit – a first-inning double to Austin Gray – walked two and struck out 17 to help the Panthers advance.
Circleville wraps up the season with a 12-15 record.
Note – Wednesday’s tournament game was scheduled to be played at Miami Trace, but field conditions necessitated moving the game to Circleville.
Central District Division I
BB — Dublin Coffman 4, Teays Valley 3
DUBLIN — A four-run fifth inning gave Dublin Coffman what it needed to advance over Teays Valley 4-3 Wednesday.
The Vikings got out to an early lead when Landen Hankinson hit a double to score Jeremiah Fabbro and Landon Vandegrift in the top of the first.
Things changed in the bottom of the fifth when the Shamrocks collected five hits and had a hit batter to take a 4-2 lead before the first out was recorded.
Hankinson scored with two outs in the seventh to close the gap, but a strikeout ended the game.
Brody Mann started for the Vikings and went four innings. He gave up four runs on five hits while walking two and striking out two.
Tyler Matthews pitched two scoreless innings in relief allowing one hit and striking out one.
Teays Valley wraps up the year with a 17-12 record.
