Southeast District Division II
BB — No. 14 Logan Elm 11, No. 19 Hillsboro 1 (5 innings)
CIRCLEVILLE — Logan Elm got off to a quick start on the way to an 11-1 win over Hillsboro in the opening game of the Southeast District Division II tournament Monday.
The Braves turned the first two pitches they saw into hits as Kyle Rine and Camden Ebert both singled. A passed ball allowed both to advance.
Kelton Bennington looked at a few more pitches before he singled to left to score Rine.
Keegan Diehl then singled to right to score Ebert and Zane Seimer singled to score Bennington.
Hillsboro scored a run in the third before the Braves added to their total in the fourth.
With the bases loaded, Bennington doubled to score two. A single from Seimer brought in two more.
In the bottom of the fifth, Colton Eplin led off with a single. He moved up on a wild pitch and, after a pop up, made it to third on a groundout.
Facing two outs, Rine reached on an error and Ebert walked to load the bases.
Bennington continued his big day singling on a fly ball to center that drove in two more.
Diehl then ended the game with a double to center that brought in Ebert and Bennington to make the score 11-1 and put the mercy rule into effect.
Dylan Neff controlled the game on the mound for LE. He allowed only four hits while walking three and striking out four.
Bennington went 3-4 with five RBI while Seimer went 3-3 with three RBI and Diehl was 3-4 with three RBI.
The Braves (11-12) advance to play at No. 3 Sheridan Wednesday.
Central District Division I
BB — No. 26 Teays Valley 22, No. 42 Briggs 1 (5 innings)
ASHVILLE — Ten errors from Briggs propelled Teays Valley to a 22-1 win in the opening round of the Central District Division I tournament.
Brody Weiler pitched four innings of one-hit baseball while walking two and striking out 10.
Landen Hankinson had two of Teays Valley’s eight hits with two RBIs.
Jeremiah Fabbro and Luke Smith each had two RBI.
Fabbro pitched a scoreless fifth inning, striking out all three batters he faced.
Teays Valley travels to No. 6 Dublin Coffman Wednesday for the sectional final with a 5 p.m. first pitch.
Central District Division III
BB — No. 7 North Union 11, No. 16 Amanda-Clearcreek 1 (5 innings)
RICHWOOD — A seven-run third inning gave North Union the momentum it needed to advance with an 11-1 win over Amanda-Clearcreek in the Division III Central District tournament.
An RBI single from Brady Holbrook in the first inning gave the Aces an early lead.
North Union responded with two in the bottom of the first.
The decisive third saw North Union send 13 batters to the plate as the Wildcats had three hits, drew five walks, took advantage of two errors and used a sacrifice fly to score seven runs for a 9-1 lead.
An RBI single in the fourth made it 10-1.
NU’s Landon Converse ended the game in the bottom of the fifth with a solo home run to left.
The Aces used four pitchers on Monday.
Brody Elder started and took the loss pitching two innings and giving up three runs on three hits with a walk and a strikeout. Gary Kemmerling pitched a third of an inning allowing three unearned runs, Dalton Dresbach pitched a third of an inning giving up two runs and Nick Holland pitched the final 1.2 innings and giving up three runs.
