Division I Regional Semifinal
Lancaster 10, Teays Valley 0 (5 innings)
SUNBURY — Teays Valley ran into some strong hitting and even stronger pitching as the Vikings saw their season come to an end in the regional semifinal with a 10-0 five-inning loss to Lancaster.
Lancaster junior Ashlin Mowery (committed to LSU) struck out 10 of the 17 batters she faced, did not issue a walk and gave up only two hits – both to Alyvia Lawrentz.

The Golden Gales (28-3) collected 13 hits in the game with the biggest one coming in the fourth inning.
After a pair of singles to start the inning and a walk to load the bases, catcher Skylar Smith came to the plate.
Headed to Purdue-Fort Wayne next year to play ball, the senior crushed one over the fence in left for her 16thhome run of the season. Once all four runners crossed the plate, the Gales were up 9-0.
In the fifth inning, Lancaster got two one-out walks. Following a fielder’s choice for the second out, Mowery hit a hard ground ball that allowed the 10th Lancaster run to cross the plate and put the mercy rule into effect.
Alyvia Lawrentz started for the Vikings and pitched 1.2 innings allowing five runs on seven hits while striking out two. Avery Stratton came on and went the rest of the way. She gave up five runs on six hits with four walks.
The Vikings finish the season with a 20-8 record.

Lancaster returns to Big Walnut High School to take on Watkins Memorial – a 3-0 winner over Hilliard Bradley – at 5 p.m. Friday. The Gales lost a 4-1 decision to Watkins a month ago and lost to the Warriors in the regional final two years ago.
