Circleville 32, Warren 27
VINCENT — Circleville came through in the final minutes Friday to open the season with a 32-27 win at Warren Friday night.
Quarterback Hudson Phalin had four rushing touchdowns on the night. The final one came with 1:56 left in the game as he took it in from a yard out after the CHS defense had come up with an interception just moments earlier.
Phalin had 49 yards on the ground on nine carries and was 10-12 passing for 72 yards with a pair of interceptions.
Drew Thornsley did the bulk of the work on the ground as he carried the ball 32 times for 177 yards and a touchdown.
Kole Nungester had four catches for 46 yards, Brody Brisker had two catches for 15 and Jack Kline had two for 11.
Warren’s Jacob Sealey was 21-35 passing for 244 yards and three touchdowns with one interception. Tanner Pepper caught 10 of those passes for 116 yards and a touchdown.
Circleville is back on the road at Vinton County this week.
Grove City 42, Teays Valley 7
GROVE CITY — Ayden McKinstry ran for three touchdowns and Carson Welsh threw for three more as Grove City beat Teays Valley 42-7 Friday in the season opener.
Spike Woods had the lone score for Teays Valley with an 83-yard run in the third quarter as part of a 146-yard night. Woods had 20 carries on the night and caught a pass for six yards.
Peter Graham had five carries for 31 yards.
Brady Farmer was 10-20 passing for the Vikings for 69 yards. Luke Burgett had three catches for27 yards and Carson Payne had two catches for 25.
The Vikings will be on the road again this week as they face off with Bloom-Carroll, a 38-0 winner over Chillicothe.
