Tigers blank Sheridan

Circleville added another win to its record with a 2-0 decision over Sheridan Saturday.

Kaden Paxton scored on a penalty kick at the 27:35 mark of the contest and then assisted on a goal later in the half that was scored by Anthony Wade.

“Paxton came up big for us again today. He was able to put us on the board with a penalty kick and then he assisted our second goal of the game,” Circleville coach Evan Callihan said. “Anthony Wade came up big for us with that second goal. Anthony is starting to come along for us this season. He is one of the more skilled players in our program and he’s someone we have been tough on lately and he keeps responding in a positive way. I’m proud of the strides that he has been making for us this season.”

Goalie Will Flory kept the Generals from scoring and got a big assist from defender Austin Bartchy late in the game when he came through with a save to keep the shutout intact.

“We knew Sheridan was going to give us a tough game. They are one of the most improved teams in the area in my opinion. They play a tough schedule, and their record doesn’t always show it, but those guys over there have improved a lot,” Calliham said. “They had several chances where we were luc ky they didn’t score.

“I’m proud of our guys for finding a way to win. We really didn’t play as well as we were hoping but that is sports sometimes. You aren’t always going to play your best game every night and sometimes you just have to find other ways to win.”

The Tigers’ JV team picked up its first win in a couple of seasons with a 2-0 final over Sheridan. Jonathan Perez and Johathon Mills each scored and Jackson Adkins recorded the shutout in goal.
