Hamilton Township 4, Circleville 1
Circleville battled league-leading Hamilton Township Wednesday night and came out on the short end of a 4-1 final.
It was a back-and-forth game for most of the first half before the Rangers’ Nick Tuff found the net with 10 minutes left and took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
The Rangers’ Brody Wooten scored again two minutes into the second half and HT followed up five minutes later with a goal from Matthew Hannan for a 3-0 lead.
Lucas Cameron used an assist from Kaden Paxton to put the Tigers on the board, but the Rangers’ Hannan answered shortly thereafter for the final goal of the night.
Will Flory recorded 14 saves while in goal for the Tigers.
“We knew going into the game that this would be one of the toughest games on our schedule. Hamilton Township is in first place in the MSL and they proved why they are tonight,” Circleville coach Evan Callihan said. “I thought we competed well early and for much of the first half to give ourselves a chance. Hamilton Township’s speed was just too much for us throughout the night. They were relentless all over the field and they moved really well without the ball.
“They are the standard in the league at the moment and it shows what level we need to get to if we want to compete for a league title in the future years.
“Our goal now is to try to keep improving every game and give ourselves a chance to get double digit wins on the season,” Callihan added. “Our opponents down the stretch are really tough and we will be challenged night in and night out these next two weeks, but it will give us a chance to continue to grow as a program.”
The Tigers travel to Lucasville Saturday for a matchup with Valley.
