Newark 35, Teays Valley 7

NEWARK — The combination of Bodie Smith to Drayson Peterson accounted for three touchdowns as Newark beat visiting Teays Valley 35-7 Friday.

While the Vikings (5-3, 3-2) were struggling to get their offense going, Smith and Peterson had a 39-yard score in the first quarter and then connected on scores of 14 and 62 yards in the second to get the Wildcats (5-3, 3-2) out to a 21-0 lead.

It was Kolton Peterson who had the next Newark score — this one a 68-yard run.

The Vikings were threatening as the half was winding down, but a fumble was recovered by Newark’s Preston Lunsford. He took it 94 yards to put Newark up 35-0 with 1:09 left in the half.

Brandon Travis helped get the Vikings on the scoreboard in the third quarter when he intercepted a Newark pass.
