Braves in control against Alexander

CIRCLEVILLE — Coming off a pair of tough league losses, Logan Elm took advantage of Friday’s non-league matchup to right the ship with a 41-0 win over Alexandar.

After a bit of a slow start, the Braves opened the scoring in the first quarter with a 35-yard pass from Aaron Walters to Justin Marcum.

The second quarter saw the Braves score four times.

Michael Bock had a 13-yard touchdown run, Austin Holbrook had a 10-yard TD run, Bock ran in another from 27 yards out and Preston Piacentini had the fourth score on a 27-yard pass from Walters.

With three PAT kicks from Maggie Wilson and two from Damien Hebb, the Braves held a 35-0 lead at the half, setting up a running clock for the second half.

Bock added a 17-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.

With 23 rushing touchdowns this season, Bock now holds the Braves’ single-season record.

He finished the night with 116 yards on 16 carries and had two catches for 59 yards.

Walters was 10-14 passing for 191 yards – all in the first half. With his performance Friday, he surpassed 6,000 yards for his career. He set the Logan Elm career passing record earlier in the season.

Marcum had a pair of catches for 53 yards and had a fumble recovery.

The Braves (6-3, 3-2) wrap up the regular season with a big matchup at Hamilton Township (5-4, 3-2) next week.

The winner will share second place in the Mid-State League Buckeye Division with Fairfield Union (the Falcons have finished their MSL schedule with a 4-2 record). The Braves already have secured their spot in the postseason and a win would guarantee a home game in week 11 while the Rangers need to beat the Braves and get a little help to earn an extra week.
