ASHVILLE — There weren’t many points to be had Friday night, but Teays Valley had enough to move on to Week 13 with a 10-7 win over Worthington Kilbourne.
The Vikings broke the ice early finishing off the game’s opening possession with a 31-yard field goal from Maxwell Spencer.
The score stayed at 3-0 until late in the first half when the Wolves got a four-yard touchdown run from Luke Page to hold a 7-3 lead.
TV’s second possession of the third quarter started at the Vikings’ 19-yard line. It took only eight plays to cover the 81 yards with Peter Graham grabbing to final 10 to put the Vikings back on top with 2:40 left in the third.
Kilbourne turned the ball over on downs on its next possession and the Vikings were stopped near midfield. A 51-yard punt from Spencer had the Wolves at their own six with six minutes left to play.
A roughing call on the second play helped get the Wolves out of the hole. A few plays and another first down later, a 41-yard pass play got Kilbourne into the redzone.
They got as close as the TV 14 but a third down pass was incomplete. With just a little over two minutes left in the game, the Wolves ran out their field goal squad for a 21-yard attempt.
The try went wide to the right.
TV was able to get a first down to run out the clock and advance to play Massillon Washington next week.
Graham led the Vikings with 100 yards on 14 carries and Carson Payne had 56 on 14 carries.
Cavin McDowell led TV in receiving with three catches for 53 yards.
The location for Division II regional semifinal between No. 7 Teays Valley and No. 3 Massillon Washington will be Zanesville’s Sulsberger’s Stadium.
