The opening weekend of girls basketball saw a little last-second excitement as two of three local teams in action began their seasons with a win.
Westfall 43, Washington Court House 41
WILLIAMSPORT — Adrian Moehl hit a three-pointer with 55 seconds left to tie the game and then hit the game-winner with only 3.9 seconds left as Westfall opened with a 43-41 win over Washington Court House Friday night.
Those baskets capped a 17-point night for the junior guard. She also had seven rebounds and three assists.
Freshman Makenzie Cook had 10 points and 10 rebounds with two assists in her varsity debut.
Aubrey Clark grabbed seven rebounds for the Mustangs and Bella Patete had six with Marianna Packer leading the team with six assists.

Amanda-Clearcreek 57, Minford 52
AMANDA — Taylor Evans hit six of nine free throws in the fourth quarter and Abbie Leist hit her two attempts as Amanda-Clearcreek held off visiting Minford to open the season with a 57-52 win.
Evans was 10-13 from the stripe Saturday as part of a game-high 24-point effort.
Hayden Plank had six of her 14 in the opening period as the Aces got out to a 19-10 lead.
Ten from Evans in the second had AC leading 33-26 at halftime.
Plank had eight of AC’s 14 points in the third period as they maintained a 47-39 lead.

Fairfield Union 63, Logan Elm 47
CIRCLEVILLE — Logan Elm opened its season hosting league rival Fairfield Union Saturday with the Falcons claiming a 63-47 win.
Kiki Ingram led the Braves with 18 points while Kimmy Petty put in 16 and Gillian Savage added seven.
Christian Thompson led the Falcons with 31 points, Maycee Martindill had nine and Alexis Leith put in eight.
The Braves are home with Southeastern Tuesday.
