WILLIAMSPORT— Westfall made the ending of Saturday’s game with Paint Valley more interesting than it would have liked but held on for a 65-64 win.

The Mustangs went only 2-6 from the line in the final minute but survived a couple Bearcat opportunities to change the outcome.

New Hope 44, Green 27

CIRCLEVILLE— New Hope used its defense to notch a 44-27 win over Green Saturday night at Ohio Christian University’s Maxwell Center.

“We simply won with defense tonight,” New Hope coach Shane Roese said. “They didn’t have a quarter where they scored in double digits and that’s what you’ve got to do when the ball is not going in the hoop.”

The Statesmen struggled to get their offense on track but still managed to hold a 26-14 lead at the half.

“We really couldn’t find an offensive rhythm all night,” Roese said. “It was by far our worst shooting night and once we missed some open looks early, I thought we started pressing a little bit.”

It was the lowest-scoring night of the season for the Bobcats (7-8).

Xander Rink led New Hope (13-2) with 19 points.

Gabe Blevins reached 10 for Green.
