Fairfield Union 51, Circleville 35

CIRCLEVILLE — Fairfield Union used a big third quarter to put itself in a tie for second in the league with Circleville with a 51-35 win over the Tigers Thursday night. 

Both teams sit at 7-3 in the Mid-State League’s Buckeye Division with two MSL games remaining.

Coming out of halftime with a 22-20 lead, the Falcons (11-6, 7-3) broke the game open with a 21-6 advantage in the third to lead 43-26 entering the final period. 

FU’s Keegan Arnett was the game’s top scorer with 13 points with Asa Kline scoring 11 and Isaiah DeLong eight. 

Riley Jenkins led Circleville (10-6, 7-3) with 12 points and Kole Nungester had 10. 

Circleville has an afternoon trip to league-leading Hamilton Township (14-2, 9-0) Saturday. (A win by the Rangers would clinch at least a share of the title for HT.) Circleville finishes its league schedule with a trip to Fairfield Union Feb. 8.

The Rangers and Tigers remain on Fairfield Union’s league schedule as well.

Lancaster 49, Teays Valley 42

ASHVILLE — Lancaster grabbed the lead and held it in the fourth quarter to get a 49-42 win at Teays Valley Thursday night. 

Entering the final period with the score tied 32-32, the Gales (10-8, 5-5) scored the first five points and kept the Vikings at bay to get the win. 

A couple of key threes and 7-10 free throw shooting in the fourth quarter helped the Gales pick up the win. 

Lancaster’s Molly Stedman led all scorers with 17 points, including hitting five of six free throws in the final period.

Tessa Horsley led TV with 16 points, Cami Robins had 11, Avery Mann put in eight and Cooper McManaway added seven. 

The Vikings (5-13, 4-6) are back at it Friday hosting Groveport-Madison in another OCC Buckeye game.

Lancaster 49, Teays Valley 42
