Logan 62, Teays Valley 52
ASHVILLE — With the final minutes of the regular season winding down, Logan was able to turn the tide on host Teays Valley and go home with a 62-52 win.
“I thought we played really hard tonight for three quarters,” TV coach Brian Barnett said. “Then we had a break that didn’t go our way. It’s been the tale of the season, unfortunately.”
The Vikings (2-20, 1-13) got up 14-3 to start the game and led 16-7 at the end of the first quarter.
A basket from Lane Struckman had the Vikings up 18-7 early in the second before Logan (4-18, 2-12) scored the next eight to tighten the game.
TV stayed on top the rest of the quarter but by halftime the lead was a single point – 26-25.

Logan’s Daniel Bauer briefly gave the Chieftains the lead to start the third but Luke Burgett and Hayden McCray both scored to put TV back on top 30-27.
While Logan was able to tie the score two more times, Teays Valley finished the quarter with a 43-41 edge.
Brody Fields and Jayden Morrison had the first two scores of the fourth to make it 47-41.
Hudson Edwards and Carson Tootle each hit three-pointers for Logan to tie the game at 47-47 with four minutes left.
Fields and Edwards traded threes to keep the score tied at 50-50.
Morrison hit to put TV up two with 2:22 left but Edwards responded with another three putting Logan up 53-52. Edwards then hit for two with 1:43 on the clock.
With the clock down under a minute, the Vikings were inbounding by their own bench and threw the ball to the backcourt, but the play resulted in a turnover with 51 seconds on the clock.
The Vikings went into foul mode to try and get the ball back, but Logan was on target hitting seven of eight in the final 43 seconds to close out the game.
Fields ended the night as the game’s leading scorer with 22 points. Morrison had 10 and McCray had eight.
With 13 in the fourth quarter, Edwards led Logan with 16 points. Jackson Stimmel and Bell each had 14.

It was the final home game for four TV seniors –Burgett, Owen Hoffhines, McCray and Gideon Dixon. They combined for 20 points and 14 rebounds.
“I thought our seniors played exceptionally well,” Barnett said. “Luke, Owen and Hayden and Gideon – those guys brought everything we could’ve asked for tonight.”
TV doesn’t have much time to prepare for the next challenge as the Vikings begin tournament play Monday night with a 7 p.m. contest at Northland.
“We just talked to them that it’s a quick turnaround. We’ve got to put this out of our heads,” Barnett said. “We told them that there are 64 Division II teams, and everybody is zero and zero right now. So, make it what it is and let’s go get one at Northland.
“If we handle their pressure a little bit and make some baskets, I think we’ve got a really good chance.”
