Mustangs clips Eagles to open with 29-6 win

LONDON — Things went the Wright way for Westfall as the Mustangs opened their 2025 season with a 29-6 win at Madison Plains Friday.

After falling behind 6-0 in the second quarter, Westfall senior Joey Wright scored from 10 yards out. The kick from Carson Deskins put Westfall up 7-6, which is where the score stood at halftime.

Four minutes into the second half, Wright ran in a six-yard TD. Another Deskins kick made it 14-6.

Westfall added two more scores in the fourth quarter – these came from sophomore Eli Wright – on runs of 1 and 55 yards. 

A Joey Wright conversion run and a third PAT kick from Deskins rounded out the scoring. 

Westfall outgained the Golden Eagles 362-171 led by 240 yards on the ground.

Eli Wright was Westfall’s leading rusher with 124 yards on 11 carries while Joey Wright had 104 on 20 rushes.

AJ Paudicz went 9-12 passing for 122 yards with Landen Sparks catching four passes for 52 yards. 

The Mustangs host Logan Elm (0-1) Friday.
