Vikings claim OCC title

A third-place showing Tuesday night was more than Teays Valley needed to lay claim to the Ohio Capital Conference Buckeye Division’s golf title. 

The Vikings had a team score of 340 at Denison Tuesday to finish behind Newark (325) and Lancaster (338). 

Earlier in the season, TV tied with Newark for first at the first conference match at Apple Valley and then kept the top spot all to itself at Darby Creek and Turnberry to finish with a conference record of 25-2-1. 

Newark was second in the league with a 23-3-2 record while Lancaster was third (20-7-1). 

Deacon Kroeger led the way for the Vikings earning medalist honors at three of the matches and was just two shots away from the top spot at the other. 

Kroeger’s round of 77 was tops at Denison Tuesday.

Trent Hicks shot an 82 for the Vikings, Noah Hilgenberg shot 90, Elliott Driesbach 91 and Will Griffith had a round of 97.
