The Westfall girls cross country team finished as a Division III Southeast District runner-up on Saturday at Southeastern.
Freshman Caitlyn Shipley finished second in 19:58.67), only bested by Peebles’ Katy Seas (19:48.64). The Division III races were combined into one race, so the top two finishers were each recognized as a district champion.
Other top runners for the Mustangs included Kylee Henry (eighth, 21:03.58); Carmen Walters (47th, 24:25.40); Alyssa Wyman (52nd, 24:36.93) and Natalie Yates (62nd, 25:04.26).
Zane Trace (99) and Huntington (106) finished as district champions in the combined 21-school race. Northwest (130) and the Mustangs (148) were the district runners-up.
Two Circleville runners qualified for the regional in the Division II race.
Lily Winter finished 16th in 21:14.53 and Ellie Patrick was 17th in 21:15.01.
As a team, the Tigers finished eighth with 181 points.
Sheridan topped the 16-team field with 99 points, followed by Athens (107).
Other leading runners for the Tigers were Audrey Fausnaugh (53rd, 23:20.58); Gretchen Search (55th, 23:27.66) and Aly Hatfield (69th, 24:04.02).
Logan Elm finished 16th with 375 points.
Top runners for the Braves included Tayla Tootle (54th, 23:27.01); Clara Wilson (78th, 24:51.63); Kaleigh Spires (80th, 24:56.44); Brooklyn Bryant (114th, 28:45.74) and Karlee Thomas (118th, 29:36.54).
In the Division II boys, Logan Elm (208) and Circleville (259) grabbed the final two qualifying spots to the regional meet.
Unioto topped the 21-team field with 36 points, followed by Sheridan (92) and Northwest (97).
Leading runners for the Braves included Ian Shaeffer (23rd, 17:36.80); Brock Evans (28th, 17:53.97); Drew Tomlinson (36th, 18:13.40); Jason Springer (56th, 19:14.77) and Trace Smith (77th, 19:56.07).
Top runners for the Tigers included Colton Pinkerton (seventh, 16:37.42); Zach Buitendorp (42nd, 18:32.52); Ryan Roy (47th, 18:45.40); Winston Jones (89th, 20:30.63) and Brandon Patrick (90th, 20:34.59).
Westfall finished 10th in 280.
Tyler Shipley qualified for the regional as an individual by finishing 13th in 17:11.85.
Other leading runners for the Mustangs included Henry Barnes (44th, 18:36.26); Galvin Colvin (60th, 19:20.43); Brody Clark (86th, 20:26.27) and Kody Day (95th, 20:44.43).
Central District
The Teays Valley girls qualified for the regional meet on Saturday by finishing fifth in a Division I race held at Hilliard Darby.
Dublin Coffman won the 17-team field with 55 points, followed by Olentangy Orange (127), Pickerington North (130), Thomas Worthington (170) and the Vikings (176).
Leading runners for the Vikings included Megan Bush (eighth, 19:36.8); Karoline Pees (10th, 19:37.3); Brooke Guisinger (35th, 20:33.2); Lindsey Triplett (42nd, 20:49.5) and Evie Layton (81st, 21:47.8).
The Teays Valley boys finished eighth out of 16 teams in their race with 214 points.
Dublin Jerome topped the field with 53 points, followed by Upper Arlington (63) and Pickerington Central (81).
Top runners for the Vikings included Carson Weiss (28th, 17:13.1); Kyle Dennis (34th, 17:25.4); Zach Goldsmith (37th, 17:32.3); Joey Williams (52nd, 17:55.7) and Jerry O’Dell (63rd, 18:27.1).
Qualifying runners from the Southeast and Central Districts will travel to Pickerington North for the regional meet.
Volleyball
Circleville 3,
Unioto 1

Kenzie McConnell recorded back-to-back kills to send Circleville to a fourth set and match win over visiting Unioto on Saturday 25-20, 17-25, 25-23 and 26-24 in a Division II Southeast District sectional final.
The Circleville senior finished with 26 kills, three service blocks and 16 digs. Morgan Blakeman put away 19 kills to go with 11 digs; Jayla Parsons dished out 28 assists and also had 10 digs; Cara Cooper led the defense with 28 digs and also had four kills; Gabby McConnell contributed 10 assists and 13 digs and Chandler Hayes chipped in 15 digs.
The Tigers (21-2) will travel to Miami Trace on Wednesday for a district semifinal.
Westfall 3,
Eastern Brown 0

Westfall turned in a dominating 25-8, 25-8 and 25-8 Division III Southeast District sectional final win on Saturday over visiting Eastern Brown.
Kristin Phillips had 14 kills and a pair of solo blocks; Marissa Mullins turned in eight kills and seven digs; Claire Latham dished out 28 assists; Hailey Young had five kills; Gabby Patete tallied four kills and five digs; Ashley Hegarty had four kills and Lauren Daniels scooped up six digs.
The Mustangs (15-4) host Huntington on Wednesday for a district semifinal. Westfall won both regular-season meetings in four sets.
