A balanced offensive attack on Saturday led Westfall past Alexander 24-26, 25-20, 25-17 and 25-17 in a Division III Southeast District final at Waverly.
While the standout tandem of Kristin Phillips (20) and Marissa Mullins combined for 32 kills, Hailey Young (12) and Ashley Hegarty stepped up to put away 20 kills. Young also contributed six aces.
Mullins paced the defense with 16 digs and Lauren Daniels followed with 12.
The Mustangs (17-4), who claimed their first district title since 2017, are slated to travel to Berne Union on Thursday to face Adena in a regional semifinal. The Scioto Valley Conference champion Warriors won both regular-season meetings.

Circleville pushed two-time defending district champion Sheridan on Saturday, but ultimately couldn’t stop the three-peat in a 16-25, 25-23, 17-25 and 22-25 Division II Southeast District final loss at Southeastern.
The Tigers finish the season at 22-3, winning the Mid-State League Buckeye Division championship and finishing as a district runner-up. They’ll lose Kenzie McConnell and Jayla Parsons to graduation at the end of the school year.
Kenzie McConnell finished with 20 kills and 20 digs; Morgan Blakeman contributed nine kills, seven digs and a pair of aces; Jayla Persons served four aces, dished out 17 assists and had nine digs; Gabby McConnell distributed 12 assists and had 13 digs; Cara Cooper served a pair of aces and had nine digs and Chandler Hayes chipped in 17 digs.
